Setting Lockout Attempts and Duration
Fromthesuprompt,usethefollowingcommandtoresetthenumberoffailedloginattempts
allowedandthedurationofthetimeout.Thissettingwill:
•DisableaRead‐WriteorRead‐Onlyuseraccount,or
•LockoutthedefaultAdmin(
su)accountforaspecifiednumberofminutesaftermaximum
loginattempts.

simultaneousinboundand/oroutboundTelnetsessions.
Bydefault,bothinboundandoutboundTelnetserviceisenabledonthedevice.Usethe
commandsinthissectiontodisableorre‐enableTelnet,or
toestablishaTelnetconnectiontoa
remotehost.
Enabling or Disabling Telnet
Bydefault,bothinboundandoutboundTelnetserviceisenabledonthedevice.Inboundservice
setstheabilitytoTelnettothisdevice.OutboundservicesetstheabilitytoTelnettootherdevices.
Usethefollowingcommandtodisableorre‐enableTelnet:
set telnet {enable | disable}{inbound | outbound | all}
DisablingTelnetwilldisconnectallactivesessions.
Connecting to a Remote Host Using Telnet
UsethefollowingcommandtostartaTelnetconnectionfromthe device’smanagementterminal
toaremotehost.
telnet host [port]
Ifnotspecified,23(thedefaultTelnetportnumber)willbeused.
Note: Once a user account is locked out, it can only be re-enabled by a Super User with the set
system login command (page 3-4).
